Spring Break

Spring Break HW:

To complete your Spring Break HW, you are to look at five different websites that are only from the “Homework/Study Resources” section of our Thinking Class website, https://mr-borden-s-thinking-class.webnode.com/resources/homework-study-resources/.

From the five different websites, you are to do research by taking Cornell Notes on the concept of “Pythagorean Theorem" or "Pythagorean THM.”

The Essential Question: How can I use the Pythagorean THM to solve problems?

Standards:

  • 8G6: I can describe a proof of the Pythagorean Theorem and its converse.

  • 8G7: I can determine the unknown side lengths in a right triangle problem using the Pythagorean Theorem.

  • 8G8: I can determine the distance between two points in a coordinate plane using the Pythagorean Theorem.

You must collect facts with examples of all three standards (8G6, 8G7, & 8G8) from each website and cite each source. This means that you should have information for all three standards in your notes from the different websites. To cite the source, simply write in the website’s name in parentheses immediately after the fact is given.

Example: “To graph a linear equation, we can use the slope and y-intercept” (Math.com).

Whether the information is in text form or video, cite the information the same way.

At the end of the Cornell Notes, list your references (the 5 websites’ names with their addresses) before writing your summary.

Expectations of Cornell Notes are always the same, as noted originally at the beginning of your journal to which you were to write down; but this assignment must be completed on separate sheets of paper, not in the journal to get credit.
